Aging Spot Removal

Aging spots are a type of pigment spots. The benign, yellow-brown discolorations start to appear on the skin at around the 40th year of life, they occur in various shapes and sizes and can reach multiple centimeters in diameter. Aging spots are a result of sunlight and are therefore mostly found in areas which have been exposed to sunlight most - such as face, cleavage, arms and the back of the hands.

Aging spots are medically harmless, but are perceived as very bothersome by a lot of people, because they alter the skin appearance significantly, especially when they occur in large numbers. In our dermatological practice AVORYA in Zurich, we offer an effective and gentle opportunity to remove aging spots permanently by the use of laser treatment.

Aging spots are pigment deposits underneath the skin. By means of short high-energetic laser impulses, the treatment using PicoPlus will blast the pigments into tiny particles. Following this procedure, the particles will be transported off naturally by the lymph system. The application of the laser is completely harmless to the surrounding tissue. Using the medical high-tech laser PicoPlus, we will often only need one session to fully dispense of the aging sports.

Once you arrive to your appointment, our dermatologist and laser specialist Dr.med.univ. Kerbler (A) will examine your aging spots, consult you about treatment possibilities and discuss the following steps with you.

If you decide for a removal, we will create a successive picture documentation of the area in question, in order to make it easier to recognize the difference after the treatment. Then, when you visit our practice for the removal of your aging spots, we will be able to start with the treatment right away.

An anesthetic will not be necessary beforehand. The detached pigment will then be transported off by the lymph system in the weeks following the treatment, which will reveal the treatments success. It usually only takes one session to remove the bothersome spots.

After each laser session you should support the healing process of your skin by applying a wound spray or gel. In addition, you should not expose the treated area to direct sunlight and always protect your skin with sunscreen including a sunblock factor of 50+. Furthermore, you should do without visits of saunas, swimming pool of tanning beds on the days following the treatment.
