Eyelid Lift with CO2 Laser

Treatment goal:	Smoothing wrinkles around the eyelid.
Treatment duration:	Depending on the extent of the treatment, 15-30 minutes.
Anesthesia:	An anesthetic cream is applied beforehand. If desired, it is also possible to get a local anesthesia.

The advantage of eye lid tightening via laser is you will be able to forgo surgery. Wrinkles can be improved fast and successful with the use of the CO2 laser, while the risks stay limited.

Only Short-Term Impairment

The after effect of laser eye lid tightening can be compared to those of an eye surgery. Although, side effects such as swelling of the eye lids will dissipate more rapidly.

Treatment Procedure

We will begin with arranging a consultation in our beauty practice AVORYA in Zurich during which we will inform you about the treatment and answer all your questions. If you decide toward an eye lid tightening via laser, we can start right away or arrange a second appointment for the laser therapy.

We will apply an anesthetic creme to your eye lids before beginning the treatment. We can also inject a local anesthetic into the area which will be treated.

After we provided your eyes with numbing eye drops, we will cover them with metallic shells (as protection from radiation). Our CO2 laser will then activate the cell renewal of your skin. This is an easy and gentle method, whereby your skin will tighten itself naturally.

A significant improvement of wrinkles around your eye lids should be visible after just one session. In case of deeper wrinkles, we advise three sessions in four-to-six-week increments.

How painful is the treatment and how long does the healing process take?

Wrinkle smoothing without surgery is almost painless. A numbing cream is applied, and if necessary, local anesthesia can also be administered. If pain occurs after the treatment, pain relievers can be used. Unlike in an upper eyelid lift with surgery, long-lasting pain is very rare.

The healing time for an eyelid lift is very short. Most patients can return to work and resume their daily activities after just a few days. We estimate a downtime of about 5 days. After one week, the traces of the treatment have disappeared, and the final result is visible.

How does the CO2 laser work?

The tissue is heated with the help of the laser, leading to the removal of the top layer of skin. The skin responds by renewing the tissue, using collagen among other things.

Within a few days, the new skin layers have healed, and the results can be assessed. Due to the regeneration with collagen, the skin becomes tighter and looks more youthful.

In the deeper layers of the skin, the healing processes continue a bit longer, also leading to tissue regeneration. The result is tighter eyelids.

Advantages of a non-surgical eyelid lift

The non-surgical upper or lower eyelid lift has clear advantages. The treatment lasts a maximum of 30 minutes, and downtime is short. Pain during the CO2 laser treatment is generally minimal, and it can be performed on an outpatient basis. Therefore, everyday life restrictions are minimal.

Which season is suitable for laser eyelid lift?

In general, the cold season is very suitable for such treatment. This is because sun exposure is lowest during this time. After an upper eyelid lift, it may be better to avoid intense sunlight.

However, this does not mean that this treatment cannot be done in the summer. It just means that a little more attention should be paid to protecting the skin afterwards. We are happy to address such questions in a consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions about Laser Eyelid Lift

In the first few days after the session, you should not apply makeup to the affected skin. Also, for the first four to six weeks, you should only use specific skincare products. We will provide you with detailed information about this during the consultation.

Your skin should also be protected from sunlight every day – whether you have had an eyelid lift or not.

Once we remove the radiation protection eye shields, you should wait at least an hour before rubbing your eyes, as there is no pain sensation due to the numbing drops.
