Anti-Wrinkle Injection Zurich – Filler or Botulinum Toxin ?
Slagging skin, deep wrinkles, loss of contour – with increasing age, different factors change permanently the whole facial shape and, therefore, also the facial expression. Anti-wrinkle injections can smooth the unattractive signs of aging in a minimally invasive and gentle manner, or they can give complete areas of skin more volume and elasticity without surgical intervention.
But what many patients are not even aware of is that not every type of anti-aging injection works for every wrinkle. Because not all lines are the same. If folds emerge as a result of muscle movements, they need a different therapy than wrinkles that are traced back to volume loss.
A combination of different ingredients is often effective in achieving the best result.
The main difference between fillers such as hyaluronic acid and the muscle relaxant botulinum toxin is in the way the substances work. The muscle relaxant relaxes the treated muscles and is used to treat dynamic wrinkles.

Expression wrinkles appear, for example, as permanent lines on the forehead (worry lines), between the eyes (frown lines) or around the mouth.
Botulinum Toxin for Injecting Mimic Wrinkles
An injection with botulinum toxin is optimal to treat expression lines. The drug, which has been used in medicine for many years, is injected directly into the muscle and inhibits the communication between muscle and nerve as it blocks the triggering messenger substance (acetylcholine).
The command to contract can therefore no longer be transmitted, the muscle remains relaxed and the skin smooths. If experts perform a treatment, they inject botulinum toxin A as much as necessary so that the muscles can still move in order to ensure a completely natural facial expression. In the case of very deep expression lines, it can be useful to combine the muscle relaxant with hyaluronic acid.
A muscle relaxant treatment can also help with hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and reduce significantly sweat production.
How Long the Botulinum Toxin lasts
Treatment Lasts The final treatment result is visible after 14 days at the latest. Normally, the effect lasts about three to four months, although, this always depends on individual factors and the treatment area. If you decide on a wrinkle treatment with hyaluronic acid and / or botulinum toxin, we will make another appointment for the corresponding treatment in our practice for aesthetic medicine. At the beginning, the exact procedure will be discussed in detail again. If you have questions, we will, of course, be happy to answer them.
After a thorough disinfection of the injection site (s), we perform the injection with thin, fine needles. How long the treatment takes always depends on how large the treatment area is. For individual wrinkles, the wrinkle treatment only takes a few minutes. For extensive facial treatments, such as the liquid lift, you can spend a little more than one hour in our practice.
After the aesthetic treatment, you are immediately presentable and may resume your usual activities. Depending on the treatment, you need to be aware of just a few things, which we will, of course, tell you during your visit.
